Wheeler is a non-denominational, Christian, social services organization, which provides critically needed goods and services to individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, and need in Central and South Central Indiana without regard to race, color, sexual orientation, creed, national origin, or religion. At Wheeler Mission, we don’t attempt to cure homelessness and addiction. We address the deeper, root issues that cause them. Freedom then flows from the inside out. The LUM Emergency Shelter operates year-round, offering overnight shelter, meals, and showers to those in need. During the colder months, the Winter Warming Station provides a safe, warm space from November to April for individuals seeking refuge from freezing temperatures. In extreme heat, LUM opens a Cooling Station to provide relief. Meals are served nightly in the Emergency Shelter and made available to guests of the Winter Warming Station. The LUM Emergency Shelter accommodates up to 48 adults each night, providing a supportive and caring environment where individuals can find temporary relief and begin to rebuild their lives.
